Brandy Norwood has been an artist that has been around for well more than a decade and she is certainly still doing her thing!
The wonderful thing about Brandy, is that she has certainly grown into her features and looks absolutely stunning! Not only is she creative in musically talented, she is extremely and comfortably a fashion/beauty icon. Who would have thought this young originally braided beauty would have longevity that many other artists could only dream of!
For me, it is not just her beauty but her voice just melts you like butter! Who else matches Brandy’s raspy undertones with runs that go on for days? I mean, she just surprises me with each and every note and the world is so lucky to have a voice like hers to keep us believing that R’n’B still exists its purest form.
Brandy has certainly transformed and grown up right in front of our eyes! I feel like I have grown up with her as I’ve eagerly witnessed her development.
It is Ms Norwood that bought Braids to the forefront of hairstyles in the 90’s when she first crept on the scene at the tender age of 15 years old.
When I see these young images of Brandy, it immediately takes me back to ‘I Wanna Be Down’ which was a hit from her massive self-titled debut album. Watching the video just makes me wanna get up and dance! Have look at the video here for a little reminder! Can you believe this video is from 1993! Damn, I must be getting old!
What I liked about Brandy and her management, is that they kept her look simple. She is not over styled or over-made-up. You never really saw a young Brandy with layers of make-up which was not age-approriate. They definitely got this one right and I think that is why she was so relatable at that time to young people like myself in the early 90’s.
In 1998, Brandy smashed it with her collaboration with Monica for the crazy anthem of ‘The Boy is Mine’ where she growing in confidence musically but keeping her signature braids. She did however advance her look by changing from the well-known ‘box-braid’ to smaller braids that so perfectly layered her round face. Her make-up was still soft and subtle as she continued to bang out the hits!
How can I forget to mention the days of Moesha between 1994 and 1996! See, this lady is multi-talented and her acting skills (for a singer) were actually really good!
Brandy continued to put out the hits, still keeping the braids, but occasionally rocking a sexy weave (that looks to be that of the Brazilian type!) to match her beautifully contoured features. She released the album Full Moon in 2002, Afrodisiac in 2004 and Human in 2008.
In between these years, Brandy had a child. Later, her life was to thrown into a media frenzy after she was embroiled in a legal wrangle following a car accident she was involved in where someone had tragically died. It must have been tough for her as an artist. Many probably thought she was hide and give up on her career, but Brandy is a fighter and like many, I am glad she had the strength to be able to get back to her love of music.
She has had a second hit collaboration with the equally gorgeous Monica with the single It All Belongs To Me where quite frankly, Brandy looked to be on the level of a Supermodel with her hair right (check!), make-up right (check!) and ensemble very right (check!). She definitely looks in great shape and the vocals once again just never seem to fail.
There are so many beautiful images of Brandy, I just had to add in a few to celebrate this Nubian Beauty! Have a look one of her latest video’s from her most recent album Two Eleven ‘Put It Down featuring Chris Brown’ where once again this beauty looks stunning!
